If you’re reading this post, then I know you’re not using Internet Explorer 6. That’s because I got so sick of trying to support it that I’ve decided to just completely disallow it from seeing my business’ site. The list of grievances against IE6 is so long it would take all night to itemize them here. But a few:
- It’s insecure.
- It ignores W3C conventions. That means it won’t render sites the way they’re supposed to be seen.
- It forces people like us at ID to dumb down our designs so that they work with IE6. That or create a special IE6 stylesheet.
- By still using it, people are holding back progress– we can’t leverage new technologies in our work because we’re forced to make things backwards-compatible for this idiotic, out-dated web browser.
Blah blah blah, I know I’m preaching to the choir here because anyone who would be looking for the script I’m about to share already knows this stuff. That’s why you’re here looking for a script that flat out disallows IE6 users from taking a single step further into your site.
Works well. Try viewing www.iluminada.com with IE6
