Most of the time designing a site for a person or a business is a lot of fun. You collect the client’s pie in the sky dream list, you spend hours looking through sample sites, you draw some sketches and then WHAM! the best idea of your creative life slaps you in the face.
So you dig in and go for it, bringing that idea out of the deep, dark recesses of your creative subconscious. When it’s finished, you’re sometimes almost giddy– it’s like Christmas as a kid, you just can’t wait to tear off the wrapper and reveal to the world (your client, in this case) what’s inside.
And then, sometimes, for reasons unknown to anyone reasonable, the client hates it and asks you to do something utterly ridiculous to it. You beg, you plead, you pull out old art history books from college, you consult the mafia… to no avail.
